It's less than two weeks to Thanksgiving, the weather is reminding us that colder days are quickly approaching and Light Up Night has successfully come and ushered in the holiday season. Slippery Rock has many reasons to be thankful. We've completed many roads projects to have safer, less jolting travel during our winter months. Our community is making more effort to stay clean and tidy and we are attracting more visitors because we look marvelous! Keep up all of your efforts. If you know of anyone in need, please contact the Slippery Rock Food Pantry at the SR Park. Winter is a trying time for many and we hope, as a community that we can assist our friends and neighbors. New tidbits about the Borough: our present U.S. Post Office opened on Dec.16, 1865, the Borough reached its present geographical size on Dec. 19, 1969. On January 1, 1903, First National Bank of Slippery Rock was chartered; January 24, 1963, the Lions Club was chartered and on January 27, 1986 the Slippery Rock Heritage Association was incorporated.
