February is definitely too early to have 72 degree weather but we do and we have plants that are sprouting much too soon as well. Western PA doesn't know what to do with this southern climate and as many of our residents are snowbirds, they wouldn't believe the mild weather that we've been enjoying while they're away. Spring will be here soon and many Borough projects will be underway. Walls will be repaired, street crossings and curbs will be brightened with fresh paint. Light posts will see fresh paint and crack sealing will continue. Hopefully, sometime this summer the former FNB building will be razed and sunshine will be smiling around the corners of Main and New Castle Streets. Get your brooms and shovels ready to help clean up downtown. Polish the Rock is April 22 and we can always use help clearing away winter grit so that the street sweeper and do its thing. Contact Tom McPherson through SRD to lend a hand for an hour or so.
